Grace City Church in Wenatchee is running candidates for public office across Washington's 12th Legislative District and they have a much darker vision for Washington.

Grace City Church isn't just another local church. Its leaders have made it clear that they want their religious beliefs to shape not only personal faith, but also public life, schools, and government. Many critics and community members view Grace City as part of the broader Christian nationalist movement because of its efforts to bring a particular warped conservative Christian worldview into politics and civic institutions. For those of us who believe our communities are strongest when people of all faiths—and no faith at all—are treated equally, that's concerning. The church has taken strong public positions against LGBTQ+ inclusion and has promoted a vision of society rooted in a warped view of traditional Christian beliefs. This kind of influence puts the values of diversity, equality, and inclusion at risk by creating a community where some people are viewed as less accepted or less deserving of equal treatment.

What were some of the "legislative prophecies" they want for Washington State?

Who is Adam James?

Adam James is a pastor at Grace City Church and he is running to be one of our State Representatives for the Washington 12th Legislative District. He is challenging our incumbent Republican Rep Mike Steele from the right and represents a Christian MAGA brand of politics that is totally out of alignment with our community and values. Does he have a real shot at winning?

Yes. James has raised over $300,000 for his campaign (much of it through his church). This is compared to roughly $45,000 raised for the Steele campaign, and $2,000 for the democratic challenger Maggie Adams. In addition, Grace City Church has recruited over 50 Republican Precinct Committee Officers (organizers responsible for getting out the vote), which is an unheard of recruitment campaign that gives them a significant structural advanrtage. The honest truth, is that James is likely the front runner at this point.

So what are we going to do? Organize. Mobile. Take Action.

If we are going to push back and stop Adam James from being our next elected representative, we have to prioritize the work to make our communities aware of this danger, and ensure ALL of our allies get out to vote both in the primary (August 4th, 2026) and the general election (November 3rd, 2026).
